@brainmist@chienfou@mycya4me@werehatrack I did not know he was behind this too. So amazing a collection of movies. And people he raised to “stardom” as it’s called. Reminded me of a bunch of great movies to re-watch.
@Pavlov@sillyheathen when I re-watched I was surprised at how dark and creepy it became. But still great. I think at some point I thought they would all be like happy Labubus (for sale for $200 on eBay now, authentic or not). But no, those Gremlins showed us the dark side of all of us, which I think was the point. Brilliant!
A Hearth’s Warming Tail (story is adapted from Charles Dickens’ classic 1843 Christmas novel A Christmas Carol). Although in this iteration if the protagonist succeeds, it’s a world ending event. You know, for kids!
National Lampoon’s: A Christmas Vacation, Scrooged, Klaus, and Spirited are my current favorites (new movies), while Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, and It’s a Wonderful Life (the MarloThomas version It Happened One Christmas is fun too) are my favorite classics.
Elf was good and Die Hard but IDK what else, we’ve been looking for days for a good up beat, feel good Christmas movie, we haven’t found one yet! I haven’t heard of Ref so I’ll check that out today.
@Cerridwyn
Watched that one last night. While I generally like Jack Black I had a hard time sitting through the whole thing. It seems like it was designed to appeal to middle schoolers … which I guess makes sense
I did definitely like the premise though!
@chienfou Jack Black dancing in the hooker suit I laughed so hard, you know one of those laughs that are so down to your core that you feel better afterwards
And then there’s It’s a Wonderful Life …
/showme Jimmy Stewart with family dressed in 1930s clothing looking up at Sharper Image by Vornado PURIFY 9 Large Room Air Purifier that is floating above them and wearing angel wings.
@mediocrebot@therealjrn Yup. This is why Ted Turner is revered by our ancestors. He used his TTTT (Ted Turner Time Travel) machine to go back in time and colorize it.
/showme Ted Turner running colorful Time Machine and setting the dial for 1935.
A Christmas Story.
The Princess Bride. But for that matter, there is no wrong time for that one.
I now follow it up with Once Upon A Deadpool. IYKYK.
@werehatrack I agree
@werehatrack Fair. It is a perfect* movie for the whole family.
*This is not an invitation for criticism. Jiminy fuck, people, just drink some spiked 'nog and maybe enjoy yourselves.
@mycya4me @werehatrack @brainmist

@brainmist @chienfou @mycya4me A loss hard felt. He was a genuine phenomenon.
Muppet Christmas Carol!
@wildernessphil we’re Marley & Marley …. wwWOAoaOAooOOoo
@wildernessphil When that came out, I thought “We do not need another Christmas Carol!”. Yes, we did. It’s the best.
@wildernessphil This!
@Thumperchick @wildernessphil We’re watching it now!
Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever
@mycya4me I bought this, maybe this is the year to watch it.
Balto!

The Ref
@rebmeh
Thank you
Die Hard, not even as a joke. My neices love it and the whole premise is a Christmas party.

@chienfou
Christmas family vacation never actually sees Christmas Day, it ends on Xmas eve. Just a little fact.
@chienfou you have a lovely list.
Krampus
@sammydog01 Festivus yesterday. Disappointed nobody mentioned it, including me.
@pmarin @sammydog01 Never Forget.

Spirited
Elf was good and Die Hard but IDK what else, we’ve been looking for days for a good up beat, feel good Christmas movie, we haven’t found one yet!
I haven’t heard of Ref so I’ll check that out today.

@Lynnerizer
Red One
Klaus
Spirited
Aurthur Christmas
Three way tie: A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, and Krampus
Probably “The Santa Clause”
@NAZtlr
Christmas Chronicles is fun also
Terry Gilliam’s Brazil
Another vote for Spirited to go along with @AlienCookie and @chienfou.
My Favorite :
My favorite of the recent ones was Dear Santa. It made me laugh so hard.

@mediocrebot The saddest thing about back then was that color hadn’t been invented yet. It must have been very drab.

We’re watching the Christmas Chronicles on Netflix right now. IF I can stay awake I’ll let you know what I think, looks good so far!

I liked it!

@Lynnerizer its cute
Just started watching Jingle Bell Heist on Netflix, who doesn’t like a good heist for the holidays…

Worth watching!
